FEMA may reinsure properties at high risk of flood disasters.

FEMA, or the Federal Emergency Management Agency, may be sharing part of its vast financial flood coverage burden with private insurance companies. If FEMA goes ahead with re-insuring some of its flood risk with independent insurance companies, the costs are expected to be high to offset potential risks from any future massive natural disasters, such as hurricanes, flooding and tornadoes.
